Website Privacy Statement

ELDAC is a collaborative project funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care and delivered by Queensland University of Technology, Flinders University, University of Technology Sydney, Palliative Care Australia, Aged & Community Services Australia, Leading Age Services Australia, Australian Healthcare and Hospital’s Association and Catholic Health Australia. Flinders University is responsible for maintaining the ELDAC website.

Your privacy is important to us and we have a firm commitment to privacy in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles. As such, Flinders University’s Privacy Policy (the Policy, pdf 160kb) applies to the ELDAC website. Under the Policy, we comply with the Australian Privacy Principles as set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and with Regulation EU (2016/679) General data Protection Regulation. If you are an individual located in the European Union, the additional privacy provisions set out in the Policy will apply to you.

The Policy in general outlines:

  • the kinds of Personal Information we may collect;
  • the ways we may directly and indirectly collect Personal Information;
  • the ways we hold, store, and secure Personal Information; and
  • the purposes for which we collect hold, use, and disclose Personal Information.

By using this ELDAC website, you consent to the data practices described in this statement and the Flinders University Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this Policy, we recommend that you do not provide your Personal Information to us. However, please note that in some systems collection of data is automatic. Personal Information

Personal Information means information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether the information or opinion is true or not and whether the information or opinion is recorded in a material form or not. By using the ELDAC website, other services provided by us and/or by contacting us, we may collect and hold Personal Information about you which may include information about your identity (name, date of birth, nationality, qualifications, employment), your contact details (address, telephone number, email, fax number), your image and voice (photograph of you, video of you and/or audio of your voice) and other information described in the Policy.

Our use of Personal Information may extend beyond the uses outlined in the Privacy Policy, but will be restricted to purposes that we consider to be related to ELDAC functions and activities. We may also be required to disclose Personal Information when required by operation of law.

Please keep in mind, if you directly disclose personally identifiable information this information may be collected and used by others. Note: ELDAC does not read any of your private online communications.

Information automatically logged and Cookies

The ELDAC website may automatically collect personal information when you are browsing or using it. The various mechanisms used to collect this information include pixels, server logs, proxy logs and cookies.

The following Personal Information may be automatically collected:

  • the type of browser and operating system you are using;
  • your top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc);
  • the address of the referring site (for example, the previous site that you visited);
  • your server's IP address (a number which is unique to the machine through which you are connected to the Internet: usually one of your service provider's machines);
  • your computer’s geographic location;
  • the date and time of your visit; and
  • the address of the pages accessed and documents downloaded.

This information is used by ELDAC for the operation of the service, to maintain quality of the service, track website usage patterns, analyse website traffic and to provide general statistic regarding use of the ELDAC website.

A cookie is a piece of information that the web server sends to your computer when you visit the ELDAC website. That cookie is stored on your computer and may provide information to our server to optimise and personalise your online experience when you visit our website.

ELDAC may collect and store the information provided by cookies and use it for marketing/advertising purposes including disclosing it to third party advertising agencies for targeted direct marketing campaigns often called ‘retargeting’. Retargeting occurs where Google, Facebook or another third party uses cookies from your computer to show advertisements when you visit websites based on your web preferences and usage patterns. If you have a cookie from our website stored on your computer you may see the ELDAC or Flinders University related advertisements as you browse other sites.

Online Order Forms

ELDAC online order forms will require you to provide contact details, your email address and other personal information. This personal information may be collected, used, and disclosed by ELDAC for the purpose of processing and responding to your requests, conducting business, reporting to the Department of Health and Aged Care and the other collaborators mentioned above, and direct marketing services to you in accordance with the Privacy Policy.


The ELDAC website provides users to subscribe to email mailing lists. To subscribe to these services the user must provide a valid email address. These email addresses will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it, and you will not be added to any other mailing lists unless you specifically request that this be done.

Email mailing list addresses are stored on a separate server and can only be accessed by authorised staff. Your email address will not be disclosed without your consent.

Links to other sites

The ELDAC site contains links to other sites. ELDAC and Flinders University is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites.

Accessing or correcting Personal Information

Questions or complaints

You can raise questions or complaints about how we have handled your Personal Information by contacting Flinders University in the manner set out in the Policy. Flinders University will acknowledge receipt of your complaint in writing, within five business days, and investigate and respond to you within 30 business days.
