Support for Services

Aged care organisations play a crucial role in end-of-life care for older people. Diversity is a defining characteristic of the sector.

Encouraging conversations about the backgrounds and life experiences of staff and older people will help share understandings and identify what steps to take.

ELDAC Companion Guides

The ELDAC Supporting Inclusive End of Life Care companion guides aim to assist aged care providers to provide culturally safe and inclusive end-of-life care by providing information, guidance and links to key resources.

Companion guides are available to download related to:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
  • Older People from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Backrounds
  • Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Gender Diverse and Intersex Elders.

They should be used in conjuction with the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing Aged Care Diversity Framework, Provider Action Plans and the Specialisation Verification Framework.
