We are pleased to share that ELDAC has secured funding through to June 2030.

This continued investment provides certainty for the aged care sector and ensures providers, workers and organisations can continue to access trusted resources, education, practical tools and expert support to strengthen palliative care and advance care planning for older Australians.

Since its establishment, ELDAC has worked alongside the aged care sector to build knowledge, confidence and capability in caring for older people approaching the end of life. Through the ELDAC Knowledge Hub, practical resources, workforce education and the national Linkages Program, ELDAC has supported services across Australia to translate evidence into everyday practice.

As aged care continues to evolve, ELDAC will continue to support the sector through a period of significant reform, growing demand and increasing complexity of care. The next phase of the program will build on existing strengths while ensuring support remains practical, relevant and responsive to the realities of aged care delivery.

A key focus over the next four years will be improving access to information and resources. As the Knowledge Hub has expanded, so too has the breadth of content available to users. We want aged care providers and workers to be able to quickly find the information, guidance and practical tools they need, when they need them. Simplifying navigation and improving access to resources will be central to this work.

The Linkages Program will also continue to be a cornerstone of ELDAC’s work. Strong partnerships between aged care, primary care and specialist palliative care services are essential to supporting coordinated, person-centred care. Through Linkages activities, ELDAC will continue fostering collaboration, strengthening relationships across sectors and supporting shared approaches to care.

Importantly, the future direction of ELDAC will continue to be informed by the sector itself. Feedback from providers, workers, partners and stakeholders has always shaped the program’s development and remains critical to ensuring resources and activities meet the needs of those delivering care every day. ELDAC will also continue working closely with its knowledge Partners to connect the sector with trusted expertise and evidence, strengthening access to high-quality information and fostering collaboration across the broader care system.

While much has been achieved, there is more to do. This funding provides an opportunity to further strengthen support for the aged care workforce and continue improving access to high-quality palliative care and advance care planning for older Australians.

We thank the many organisations, partners and individuals who have contributed to ELDAC’s success to date and look forward to continuing this work together over the coming years.

The next chapter of ELDAC is about building on strong foundations, strengthening what works and continuing to support the sector to provide high-quality care for older Australians when it matters most.
